We are committed to meeting and exceeding the requirements and expectations of our customers. When a customer’s requirement relates to a recognized quality standard, the practices and procedures of that standard are always applied in a fully traceable manner.
Chemical, Thermal and Structural Analysis
Chemical analysis of our material is controlled using a suite of equipment including Optical Emission Spectroscopy and X-ray fluorescence. Physical metallurgy, structures and properties are assessed using equipment in our Magnesium Technology Centre. Our facilities include scanning electron and light microscopes, DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimeter), mechanical testing and corrosion testing.
Our fully automated, custom built, ultrasonic immersion detector, together with our operators qualified to NAS410 level 2, offer ultrasonic immersion test of bar, billet, plate or extrusion to the Aerospace Material Specification AMS-STD-2154 A. The system is supported by ultra modern data acquisition and analysis software with full colour reporting in both B_SCAN and 3D C-SCAN modes. Defects can be individually analysed with multi-plane probes producing detailed 3D views through the part.
Environmental Management System
We employ and operate an Environmental Management System that complies with the requirements of ISO 14001:2004. Over the years, auditors have acknowledged the approach we have taken in fully embracing the philosophy of business growth whilst minimising the impact of our operations on the environment. This approach has also been recognized by the Engineering Employers Federation who presented Magnesium Elektron UK with a runner-up Environmental Achievement Award for the Company’s reduction of operating waste streams and by the International Magnesium Association who has awarded Magnesium Elektron UK the inaugural International Environmental Responsibility Award for our work to significantly reduce emissions of greenhouse gasses.
