With over 50 years experience in magnesium particulate production, Magnesium Elektron was one of the first producers of magnesium particulate products and pioneered the production of free flowing, low cost magnesium powders in the early 1980's.
With manufacturing operations in Manchester (UK), Ontario (Canada), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (USA), the company offers a complete range of magnesium and magnesium alloy powders, raspings, flakes, chips, granules and thixomoulding products for all particulate applications, for example for use in the Grignard reaction, in the desulphurisation of steel and in military flares.
The magnesium powders are manufactured using the latest techniques to ensure consistent and reproducible products. Our technologies include the atomisation of molten magnesium under an inert atmosphere to produce a highly spherical magnesium powder which can then be screened and blended to customers' specifications. With this proprietary technology, Magnesium Elektron is the only commercial producer of atomised magnesium powders qualified to stringent military specifications.
We have process control facilities fully capable of achieving predetermined particulate morphologies. Our flexible production capabilities and extensive experience enable products to be tailored to meet customers' requirements in terms of magnesium particle shape and size, chemical specification and packaging.
