Magnesium Photo Engraving plate (PE plate) is used for a variety of applications, particularly in the printing industry
A photosensitive coating applied to a special magnesium photo engraving plate allows the user to chemically etch an image into the magnesium plate after exposing a film negative and developing that image on the plate. The most popular use is in creating dies for foil stamping and embossing a variety of printed products including greeting cards, folders, brochures, book covers and packaging materials. Other applications for magnesium photo engraving plate include thermal 'kiss-cut' dies, flexography, nameplates, decorative plaques, recognition awards and fabric/leather embossing. New applications are continually being developed.
Magnesium Elektron Graphic Art Products is the world's only fully integrated manufacturer of magnesium photoengraving plates (PE plate), from casting to coating. Magnesium Elektron is committed to the long-term health and vitality of the photoengraving industry by providing our customers with professional, outstanding service and top-quality products now and in the future.
Many years ago, our staff helped formulate Red Top (magenta) photoresist coating, the traditional industry standard. Now, as a result of significant research and development, facility improvements and refined manufacturing processes, Magnesium Elektron is producing an aqueous developed magnesium photoengraving plate that is effective, consistent and environmentally friendly. The AQ-BLU system offers engravers a natural choice as the future industry standard.
In addition, because of magnesium's outstanding machining qualities, uncoated magnesium plates are excellent for mechanical engraving on new CNC (computer numeric control) machines.
The Foil Stamping and Embossing Association (FSEA) promotes the use of the main applications for PE plate. Visit their website at www.fsea.com.
